The November Birthstone is Citrine
The November Birthstone is Citrine
Citrine Pendant
Citrine is a part of the large quartz family and mined primarily in Brazil. The gem’s name has French origins; citrine is derived from citron, meaning lemon. It’s easy to see why citrine has this name. Citrine colors range from vibrant yellows to luxurious oranges and reds.

Citrine is very close in appearance to yellow topaz and, because of this, has been oftentimes mistaken for topaz throughout various historical records. One difference that definitively tells us which is their hardness ratings on the Mohs scale. While topaz’s hardness is 8, citrine’s is 7.

Along with citrine’s colors which reminds one of summer, wearers are also attracted to citrine pendants and citrine rings for believed beneficial properties. Citrine is believed to help people connect with their spirit. In Feng Shui, citrine is a gem which owners should keep in their establishments (sometimes even in the cash register) to help attract money. Citrine is also believed to help relaxation and cleanse the body. And citrine’s vibrant colors are believed to help lift the wearer’s mood.

Citrine pendants and citrine rings make thoughtful gifts for anyone born in November or any expectant November mothers. Citrine can also be given for the thirteenth and seventeenth wedding anniversaries. No matter the reason or occasion, consider making the vibrant and warm addition of citrine to your jewelry collection.
